Abstract
It's a common misconception that when a person goes to prison, they will be unlikely to rejoin society. In fact, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 95% of all those in state prisons will be released at some point. And a study commissioned by the U.S. Department of Justice found that prisoners who participated in educational opportunities while in prison were 40% less likely to return to prison once released.
