Abstract

The current ongoing domestic and international spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has changed the way we use to live and work in our normal life. To maintain social distancing and enforce lock-down, police patrolling is mandatory to stop the fast spreading of this pandemic especially in hot-spot areas where Covid-19 cases are very high. During police patrolling, hundreds of police officers are getting affected by Covid-19 which results in their higher mortality rate. In this paper, we propose a UAV-based monitoring framework over 4G-LTE cellular infrastructure in which, instead of police personnel, the mobile UAVs are used for monitoring and live delivery of real-time captured videos to police headquarters. This can be done by utilizing nearby attached base stations (BS) which assist police in maintaining social distancing and enforce lockdown, which will lead to less mortality rate of police personnel all over the world. We validate the proposed framework under the NS-3 simulator. We have analyzed the Quality of Experience (QoE) of streaming video under this framework which explores useful insights into the proposed monitoring framework.
