Abstract
U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) issued detailed scientific integrity guidelines on 1 February, becoming the first federal agency to do so following a 9 July 2009 White House memorandum on the subject and 17 December 2010 White House guidelines for federal agencies. DOI's guidelines indicate that the department “will not tolerate loss of integrity in the performance of scientific and scholarly activities or in the application of science and scholarship in decision making.”
