Abstract

The telegraphist’s equation for transmission lines, derived in the previous chapter, represents generically numerous partial differential equations of electrodynamics and many other disciplines, the so-called differential equations of mathematical physics. Engineers usually encounter these equations “problem-oriented” and without recognizable links to other familiar equations. The hidden systematics will be disclosed in this chapter by means of some representative examples.
