Abstract
The downwarps, commonly regarded as compensational, may be subdivided further into three types on the basis of new evidence: a) "residual," produced during injections of salt accompanied by local uplifts of the overburden (most of the downwarps in the region belong to this type); b) "marginal or compensational," produced by subsidence of the ground between domes which do not arise by themselves, but only in conjunction 'with type (a); c) a deep-seated hypothetically recognized variant produced by local subsidence of materials under salt beds. — V.
