Abstract
AbstractWe present the first black hole solutions with Lifshitz asymptotics found in string theory by using a consistent truncation of type IIB to four dimensions. These solutions are expected to be dual to models of strongly correlated electrons with anisotropic scale invariance with z = 2 at finite temperature. The Lifshitz black holes found display new interesting features that contrast with previous results in phenomenological models. In particular, they behave similarly to AdS‐Schwarzschild black holes: extremality is never reached and small black holes are thermodymanically unstable, signaling a Hawking‐Page like phase transition at low temperatures.
