Abstract

Thin film of lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) enables functional devices with compact sectional area and footprint, exhibiting high nonlinear optical conversion efficiencies and high performance electro-optical modulating. Here we report on the simulated results of type I phase matching of ridge waveguides on LNOI platform. We investigate the phase matching wavelength versus the width/height of the ridge waveguides. The phase matching relation (1550 nm–775 nm) between the width and height of ridge waveguides at different temperatures are also demonstrated. Our results show that wide spectral tuning with considerable conversion efficiency could be obtained in the present ridge waveguide configuration.
