Abstract

Nociceptors, or pain neurons, have a pro-inflammatory role in allergic airway inflammation (AAI). They trigger cough reflexes, and release neuropeptides that promote vasodilation, mucus secretion and immune cells activation. However, the mechanisms driving this inflammatory phenotype in nociceptors are poorly understood.
