Abstract

Background: Type 1 interferon is regarded as having an important role in the pathogenesis of dermatomyositis (DM). A recent report has shown that sarcoplasmic expression of myxovirus resistance A (MxA), one of the type 1 interferon-inducible proteins, can be used as a diagnostic marker of DM. However, the correlation between MxA expression and subtypes of DM remains unclear.
