Abstract

Thanks to its simple construction, the Basque instrument txalaparta offers easy access to shared rhythmic playing. This is characterised by a fixed traditional way of playing which provides structure and at the same time allows space for improvisation. Playing in pairs on the txalaparta is in several respects an addition to the music therapy method repertoire which is well worth trying.
