Abstract

Optimal hourly reconfiguration is a viable solution to maximize the utilization of high penetration levels of renewable energies in active distribution networks. This paper presents a two-stage model, for optimal scheduling of reconfigurable distribution networks in presence of high-level wind/photovoltaic hybrid system. The main goal of the presented model is to maximize the hybrid system owner’s profit. For this purpose, in the first stage, the optimal hourly bilateral dispatches between the hybrid system and active distribution network in the day-ahead electricity market is determined. In the second stage, hybrid system profit is maximized using reconfiguration technology in the real-time electricity market, as well as the wind and photovoltaic power spillage in the distribution network is minimized. To verify the efficiency of the proposed operational strategy, the presented model is tested on the modified version of IEEE 33-bus distribution system.
