Abstract

ABSTRACT The literature on two-phase flow in geothermal wells shows that the Orkiszewski1 method has found wide application in state-of-the-art wellbore simulators. Such a simulator was developed and then used for the problem of wellbore deposition of calcite in the Miravalles geothermal field in Costa Rica. The output of wells suffering calcite deposition decreases slowly at early time but rapidly at late time. The simulator was also used to estimate the deliver ability curve for a large diameter well in the Svartsengi geothemal field in Iceland. The view is presented that more accurate wellbore simulators will make new reservoir engineering studies possible in geothermal fields.
