Abstract

Coflex® interlaminar stabilization following decompression for spinal stenosis and low-grade spondylolisthesis at 1-2 levels has recently been shown to be equally or more effective than spinal fusion, with notable improvements in hospital stay, operative times, blood loss, and by affording radiographic protection of the adjacent levels. As multi-level procedures have been associated with higher rates of complications and perioperative morbidity, a less-invasive approach in these higher-risk patients may be desirable if similar clinical outcomes can be achieved.
