Abstract

A two-dimensional multi-beam end-fire magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna array with horizontal polarization is proposed at 60 GHz. A horizontally polarized end-fire ME-dipole is designed as the array element. A SIW 90° twist realized in three-layered substrate is constructed to connect the antenna to the vertically polarized 4 × 4 SIW Butler matrix implemented in a three-layered zigzag configuration for size reduction. The array consisting of a 2 × 4 ME-dipole array with 90° twists, two folded Butler matrixes and four SIW 3-dB E-plane couplers is fabricated and measured. Measured results verify a wide bandwidth and good radiation performance of this compact structure.
