• We examined public attitudes on gun policy two years after the Newtown tragedy. • Large majorities of Americans support a range of gun violence prevention policies. • Few differences were found among gun owners and non-gun owners for most policies. • Most Americans continue to support universal back ground checks for gun sales. • Americans support banning guns for people with domestic violence restraining orders.
