Abstract

The self-sensitized photo-oxygenation reactions of 9,10-dimethyl-anthracene and 5,12-diphenyltetracene can be used as actinometers and quantum counters for polychromatic light in the wavelength regions 334 - 395 nm and 405 - 500 nm respectively. Both systems have the advantages of wavelength independent quantum yields, high reproducibility, high accuracy and convenient analysis.
