Abstract

Aim: LDLc is normal in diabetic patients who conversely tend to have increased TG, low HDL and increased concentration of small LDL and HDL particles (atherogenic dyslipidemia (AD)). Paradoxically, although PCSK9 is among the strongest regulators of LDLc concentration we demonstrated that it promotes AD in diabetic patients. We have tested whether the relation between PCSK9 and AD is genetically driven.
