Abstract

Trains are usually operated according to a train schedule which is made previously. But once train traffic falls into disorder by some disturbances such as earthquake or car trouble, the train schedule has to beadjusted in order to restore a delayed train to the train schedule. This is generally called train schedule adjustment. Train schedule adjustment must give not only feasible solutions, but also optimal ones for restoration of train operation. This paper treats two independent subjects concerning train schedule adjustment. One is a new method to judge speedily whether a solution for train schedule adjustment is feasible or not in computer aided train traffic control system. The other is a computer aided algorithm which gives an optimal solution for train schedule adjustment based on changing the order of trains.
