Abstract

A two-stage high power L-band superfluorescent fiber source consisting of a double-pass forward Er-doped amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) seed source and a double-pass Er/Yb co-doped fiber amplifier is obtained. Output power is 216 mW and conversion efficiency is 13.7%. The ASE seed source benefit improving output spectrum and preventing from lasing. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
