Abstract
A two-pulse sequence is used to measure the first-order quadrupole pattern of half-integer spins corresponding to ± 3 2 –± 1 2 transitions. After the second of two identical and sufficiently short (non-selective) rf pulses the free induction decay is measured as a function of time, t, for different values of the pulse distance, Δ. Two-fold Fourier transformation, first with respect to t and then with respect to Δ, gives two-dimensional spectra from which the quadrupole frequency and the anisotropy factor can easily be determined.
