Abstract
Field trials of Bayer 37344 (4- (methylthio) –3,5-xylyl methylcarbamate) and Imidan® (phthalimidomethyl O,O -dimethyl phosphorodithioate) were made in 1961 through 1964 for control of the plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst), on 4 varieties of plums. The materials were applied in a series of 3–5 sprays from bloom ot petal fall through the second or third cover spray. Both experimental insecticides gave excellent control of the plum curculio. A laboratory test against the summer adults indicated that Bayer 37344 and Imidan were comparable in effectiveness to our presently recommended insecticides. No problems in phytotoxicity were evident.
