Abstract

For pt.I see ibid., vol.11, p.365 (1978). A resonance shift, orders of magnitude larger than the Bloch-Siegert shift, has been measured in the second-harmonic microwave emission spectrum of a dilute ruby sample (Cr3+:Al2O3) near a three-level resonance. The observed shift is ascribed to the interference between the direct and the resonant second-harmonic generating processes.
