Abstract

Abstract Two-photon absorption (TPA) spectra were measured on a dimethyl sulfoxide solution of [M(dpphen)3](ClO4)2 (dpphen: 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline; M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Ru). The TPA cross section depended drastically on the central metal(II) ions, in the order Ru- Co- > Ni- > Mn- > Cu- > Zn complexes. The effects were rationalized in terms of the resonance of photons used for two-photon transition with one-photon absorption band.
