Abstract

In this paper, we present the effects of Two Photon Absorption (TPA), Kerr effect, and loss on nonlinear coupling of semiconductor-based microring resonator. Our analysis uses nonlinear directional coupler equations on segmented coupling region of ring-waveguide. The results show that the field transmission between ring and waveguide decays by increasing the incident field as a result of TPA and Kerr effect, but the effect of TPA is stronger than Kerr effect. Next, we show that nonlinear coupling efficiency and TPA affect on band-gap, group velocity, delay time, and pulse propagation in Side-Coupled Integrated Sequence of Resonators (SCISSOR). The pulse evolution is presented by nonlinear Schrodinger equation, too. The results show that the pulse delays and broadens more at high field intensity and group velocity decreases in SCISSOR.
