Abstract

This paper presents a control scheme for a micro‐stepped two‐phase linear stepping motor drive using a three‐phase voltage source inverter. The purpose of this scheme is for cost reduction, since all the control loops are executed digitally and a standard three‐phase voltage source inverter is used. A space vector PWM is presented for the control of two‐phase motors. The scheme is based on the harmonic injection principle for three‐phase motors. An on‐line compensation scheme is proposed for the voltage error caused by the power switch dead‐time. Experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme can effectively compensate for the dead‐time voltage error.
