Abstract

The asymptotic two-particle distribution function is studied in the framework of the ABFST model. The azimuthal correlation is discussed for pairs of pions produced in the pionization region with c.m. longitudinal momenta lying in opposite hemispheres. Such a correlation effect is shown to persist for values of the mass √s′ of the two-pion system beyond the resonance region. An estimate of its strength, essentially free from arbitrary parameters, is given for s′≳2 GeV 2.
