Abstract

Modifications of the rapid liver biopsy technic, previously presented by the author, are described. They aim at making the performance easier and giving the operator continued control of the right hypochondrium and interspace. To facilitate the passage of the needle through the skin a small stylet for preliminary skin perforation has been adopted. But the most important alteration is a connecting rubber tube of about 35 cm. length between the needle and the syringe, that allows the operator to handle only the needle, while the syringe is handled by an assistant. The operator performs only very simple movements and his left hand is free to control the right hypochondrium and interspace of the patient. The results do not differ from those obtained with the original technic, but the entire procedure is simplified and made safer.
