Abstract

Patient 1, a 19-year-old man, was seen at the hospital because of abdominal distention and abdominal pain. On physical examination, a huge tumor was palpable in the abdomen. Abdominal ultrasonography and an abdominal CT scan revealed a huge tumorous lesion with heterogeneous internal portion. Ga scintigraphy disclosed positive image. The ileocecal region was resected and a 26×19×11cm material with the weight of 3.9kg was resected. Histopathological diagnosis was malignant lymphoma (diffuse large cell). The patient is alive as of 2 years and 8 months after the operation. Patient 2, a 53-year-old man, was seen at the hospital because of abdominal distention. A huge mass was palpable under the left hypochondrium. Abdominal ultrasonography and an abdominal CT scan revealed a huge tumorous lesion with heterogeneous internal portion. Ga scintigraphy disclosed positive image. Total gastrectomy with associated resections of the pancreatic body and tail, spleen, left colon, left adrenal gland, and left kidney was performed, and a 30×14×20cm material with the weight of 5.0kg was removed. Histopathological diagnosis was malignant lymphoma, diffuse, large cell. The patient is alive as of 2 years and 8 months after the operation. We experienced two operated patients with malignant lymphoma of the mesentery presenting a huge mass, with consequent relatively long survival in both of them.
