Abstract

Two new complexes [Zn(oba)(bpyb) (H2O)] (1) and [Cu(oba)(Py2TTz)]·H2O·DMF (2) [H2oba=4,4′-Oxybis(benzoic acid), bpyb=1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)benzene and Py2TTz=2,5-di(pyridin-4-yl)thiazolo-[5,4-d]thiazole)] were synthesized. It is noteworthy that supramolecular architectures of two complexes are formed by π-π interactions. The photoluminescent properties of the ligands and complexes 1-2 in the solid-state were explored. In addition, the dye adsorption behavior of compound 1 was also studied and the adsorption kinetic data were well described by a pseudo-second-order model. The experimental results indicated that compound 1 is a promising adsorbent for Congo red (CR) dye removal from aqueous solution.
