Abstract

Abstract Two new species of springtails (Symphypleona: Sminthuridae), Pararrhopalites sideroicus sp. nov. and Pararrhopalites palaciosi sp. nov. are described. The species come from very different environments, the first is a cave dweller in iron caves and the other comes from tropical Atlantic forest leaf litter. They were found only from type localities, in Southeastern and Northeastern Brazil respectively. An identification key is provided for all members of the genus.
