Abstract

Lecanactis dimelaenoides and L. nashii, found in Baja California (Mexico), are dis- cussed and proposed as new. They are characterized by their Grumulosa-type asci, ascospores transversely multiseptate and surrounded by a thick gelatinous sheath, and thallus C+ reddish. Lecanactis dimelaenoides differs from L. nashii by its roundish ascocarps and its wider asci and ascospores. Both species grow in coastal saxicolous ombrophobous communities.
