Abstract

Two new species of the previously monotypic xanthid crab genus Guitonia Garth & Iliffe, 1992, are described from Guam and the Hawaiian Is. The male characters for the genus are described and illustrated for the first time. Guitonia paulayi n. sp., and G. leimomi n. sp., can be distinguished from G. troglophila Garth & Iliffe, 1992, and from each other by characters of the carapace, chelae, ambulatory legs, thoracic sternum, male abdomen and male gonopods. With the addition of the two new species and a rediagnosis of G. troglophila, a redescription of the genus, as well as a discussion of its affinities within the Xanthidae, are provided.
