Abstract

Two freshwater red algae, Compsopogon tenellus Ling et Xie and C. chalybeus Kutzing, are first reported to the freshwater algal flora of Taiwan. In this study, we describe in detail the morphology of them and compare the ecological differences of their habitats. Both of them were found in clear, warm (24-27 °C) and running stream in low altitude plain areas of southern Taiwan.
