Abstract

Two new ionones, frehmaglutin F (1) and frehmaglutin G (2), along with eight known compounds (3–10) were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the fresh roots of Rehmannia glutinosa. All the structures were established by interpretation of the MS and NMR spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of the new compounds were determined by comparing their experimental and calculated ECD spectra. The protective effects of all compounds against LPS-induced normal rat kidney tubule epithelioid (NRK-52e) cells were evaluated by MTT and RTCA assay. The results indicated that compounds 4 and 6–8 exhibited moderate protective activities with the EC50 values of 10.2–40.7 μM.
