Abstract

ABSTRACT Two new Cd(II) coordination polymers, {[Cd(IPA)(TMB)]·0.5(H2O)}n (1)and [Cd(PDA) (TMB)]n(2) [TMB = 1-(imidazo-1-ly)-4-(1,2,4-triazol-1ylmethyl)benzene, H2IPA = 5-nitroisophthalic acid and H2PDA = 1,4-Phenylene diacetic acid] have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The structure determination reveals that complex 1 displays a one-dimensional (1D) chain, complex 2 features a two-dimensional (2D) layer structure, and complex 3 shows a three-dimensional (3D) framework with twofold interpenetrated pcu topology. The structural differences indicate that the backbones of the dicarboxylate acids are an important key to form the final coordination polymers. Furthermore, the photoluminescent properties of complexes 1–3 were investigated in the solid state at room temperature.
