Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper examines Arabic documents about the conversion of two Muslim captives between 1656 and 1667: Muḥammad al-Tāzī (Baldassare de Mandes) and Bil-Ghayth al-Drāwī (Francesco Medici). They show how Arabic sources furnish completely different information about conversion from the information that survives in European sources.
