Abstract

The first experimental investigation was made of the interaction of two linearly and orthogonally polarized modes in a waveguide CO2 laser utilizing an individual vibrational-rotational transition. Stable two-mode lasing was obtained when the mode separation was varied from 0.3 to 140 MHz. The greatest width of this region was 180 MHz.
