Abstract

A theoretical and experimental investigation was made of the interaction between two axial modes in a ring gas laser. An analysis was made of the competition between the stimulated emission regimes which were equally convenient in respect of the spectral burning of the Doppler line. It was found that the spatial-temporal modulation of the medium separated these stimulated emission regimes from the energy point of view. Conditions were found for the unidirectional stimulated emission with a symmetric position of the modes (relative to the center of the gain line), which appeared as narrow high-contrast power resonances.
