Abstract

AbstractTo explore the coordination possibilities of fluorene‐based ligands, two manganese(II) complexes with the ligand 9,9‐dibutyl‐9H‐fluorene‐2,7‐carboxylate (L) were synthesized and characterized: [Mn2(L)2(DMF)3]∞ (1) and [Mn2(L)2(DMF)]∞ (2). X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction analyses show that complex 1 has a two‐dimensional (2D) (4,4) structure, whereas complex 2 consits of a three‐dimensional (3D) (4,5)‐connected topology framework. The results indicate that the steric bulk of the fluorene ring in H2L plays an important role in the formations of 1 and 2. Additional pyridine‐based ligands govern the formation of the final frameworks of 2. Moreover, the luminescent properties of these complexes were briefly investigated.
