Abstract

Two nickel(II) coordination polymers (CPs), [Ni(5-NIP)(L)(H2O)]n (1) and [Ni(1,4-PDA)(L)(H2O)]n (2) (L = 1,3-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)propane, 5-H2NIP = 5-nitroisophthalic acid, 1,4-H2PDA = 1,4-phenylenediacetic acid) were hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. 1 displays a 1D zigzag chain alone the a-axis. 2 shows a 3,5-connected 3,5L27 framework with a point symbol of {3.4.5}{32.42.5.63.72}. Two compounds exhibit remarkable photocatalytic activities for degradation of the methylene blue under UV irradiation. 1 and 2 can serve as the dual-responsive luminescent chemosensors for the selective detection of benzaldehyde and Fe3+ in aqueous systems.
