Abstract

Detection of heavy ions and antibiotics employing fuorescent sensing techniques has been one of the most active research fields in chemistry. Based on 1,3-bis(2-ethylbenzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (L) and 2,5-dichloroterephthalic acid (H2DCTP) mixed ligands, two new coordination polymers [Cd2L(DCTP)2·H2O]n (1) and [ZnL(DCTP)]n (2) were synthesized by changing the metal ions under solvothermal conditions. 1 expresses a double-layer V-shaped 1D chain, which further extended into a 2D supramolecular network through classic O–H⋯O hydrogen bonding interactions. 2 features a 2D 4-connected sql layer. The two CPs perform high thermal and pH stability. 1 and 2 are the first CPs to detect Hg2+ ions and pefloxacin by fluorescence quenching with low detection limits and superior recyclability.
