Abstract

Two linear trinuclear compounds, [Ni3(msda)2(AcO)2(DMF)2] (1), [Ni3(msda)2(HCOO)2(H2O)4]∙(C2H5OH)2 (2), where H2msda is 3-methoxy-salicylal- dehydeazine. The two compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 have strictly linear structure with the similar topology in which three nickel(II) centers bridged by oxygen atoms of phenolic hydroxyl groups. Magnetic properties of 1 and 2 in the 300–2 K have been discussed, which reveal the occurrence of ferromagnetic interactions between nickel(II) ions from the nature of the binding modes through μ2-alkoxide groups.
