Abstract

The weight of alloying elements is a decisive factor to determine the grade and quality of alloy steel. It is difficult to control the weight of alloying elements accurately running due to the fluctuations in the feed rate. This article presents a new control system including a controller and a two-level adjustment strategy. First, a mathematical model is built to describe the weighing system based on the analysis of the weighing characteristics. Next, a control system is developed based on the model. Then, a two-level data-based adjustment strategy for the parameters of the controller is devised based on both the real-time data of the current batch and historical data of former batches of weighing. It ensures that the controller adapts to the fluctuations in the feed rate. Finally, the results of real runs show that the method has high accuracy and strong robustness.
