Abstract

Juxtaposing two performances entitled Kinjiki-by Tatsumi Hijikata (1959) and Itoh Kim (2005)- reveals the divergence of contemporary Japanese dance from butoh's expression of eroticism and violence toward a post-butoh aesthetic that is concerned with a more relational and social game.
