Abstract

A high-power short pulse (self-injected) version of a two frequency flashlamp pumped dye laser is presented. Stable nanosecond duration pulses are obtained with a gain in output intensity of a factor of 12 with respect to the normal (long pulse) dye laser configuration over the tuning range of Rhodamine 6G . The first results of non-linear excitation of surface polaritons in solids with this source are reported.
