Abstract

Two generalized FORTRAN 77 function subprograms GR2DX and GR2HDX are presented to calculate the gravity anomalies of two-dimensional and two-and-one-half-dimensional bodies with a constant density contrast or with a density contrast differing linearly or exponentially with depth. The cross section of the body is replaced by an N-sided polygon; each side of the polygon is subdivided into several segments, along each of which the density contrast can be assumed to differ linearly with depth in the situation of exponential variation. The gravity effects of all the segments are calculated and summed up. Two examples are shown demonstrating the utility of the subprograms.
