Abstract

This paper presents two effective automatic mesh generation schemes for the 2D-nonlinear boundary element method (BEM), using a transfinite method and the Poisson equation. A new modified Laplacian-Poisson method is proposed, which is particularly applicable for a circular region. Transfinite mappings with boundary information represented in continuous form are also found to possess distinct advantages for BEM mesh generation. Interactive computer graphics techniques are used to facilitate data preparation and display. Numerical examples are computed by using the two methods. Comparison of results between the two methods shows them to be effective and useful for the 2D-nonlinear BEM.
