Abstract
We explore a superconformal field theory coupled to (1, 1) supergravity in the super light-cone gauge and re-examine the analysis of the (0, 1) case by Polyakov and Zamolodchikov. In the (1, 1) case, whose Kac-Moody is N = 1 supersymmetric OSp(1, 2), constraints require matter to satisfy a superconformal algebra. Applying the BRST formalism to both the (1, 1) and (0, 1) cases, we derive formulae for the central charge and the gravitational scaling dimension. A conformal anomaly, c, of the matter is restricted to the region c < 13 or 25 < c in the (0, 1) case. In the (1, 1) case the dimension, d, of the superconformal matter (with c = 3 2 d ) is restricted to the region d < 1 or 9 < d. The analysis in this paper suggests the possibility that the OSp(1, 2) super Kac-Moody algebra might be a hidden symmetry in superconformal field theory.
