Abstract

AbstractThe method of Goldstein [1], Bogue [2] and Schiller [3] has been extended to discuss the two dimensional flow of both pseudoplastic and dilatant fluids in the inlet length of a straight channel. The pressure drop has been obtained and compared with that obtained from kinetic energy end‐correction. Analytical expressions have been obtained for the inlet length and the boundary layer thickness. For certain values of the flow behaviour index, all the results have been illustrated by graphs.
