Abstract

A Cd(II) metal–organic framework with 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acid (4,4′-H2bpda) and 1,3-bis(1-imidazolyl)-5-[4-(1-imidazolyl)-phenoxymethyl]-benzene (ptim), {[Cd2(NO3)2(bpda)(ptim)2]·2DMF·H2O}n (1), has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses demonstrate that complex 1 exhibits a 2D bilayered structure interconnected with 4-bpda, resulting in 1D channels. These layers are arranged via the π···π stacking interactions between ptim ligands, forming a 3D supramolecular structure. The solid state luminescent property of 1 at ambient temperature was also investigated and showed a high selectivity and sensitivity for Fe(III) owing to the quenching effect.
